Philosophy of Teachnology
- What is one of the least effective ways I have seen teachers use technology in the classroom and why was it so ineffective?
It was the old saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… It was at the U of A in my first semester when an older prof tried to use technology in his presentation and we ended up bailing him out with some help and technical advice. The lesson was mediocre at best as he was quite flustered and even agitated at times and really couldn’t get his grove back. Most of us just read the online notes from the TA in another section of the course. - What is one of the most effective ways I have seen teachers use technology in the classroom and why was it so effective?
Delivery of real time content, like when a student has a question of procedure in a recipe but you cannot be in two places at once… or can you. Having elements and tools like online demos pre-reccorded at their finger tips that can be accessed even on personal devices is key to your classroom managment and sanity. At least for Culinary arts anyway… I think it might apply to other subjects too.
